In 1993, two financial services executives formed Group Marketing Associates with the goal of providing innovative, productive and cost-effective marketing services primarily for financial institutions. With decades of experience between them in the financial field, our principals have worked with hundreds of Credit Unions and other institutions to achieve their goals.
They are supported by an experienced team of account executives, project coordinators, graphic designers, copywriters, programmers and others, who work to produce high-quality, creative marketing projects that work.
Larry P. Watson, President, lpwatson@groupmarketing.com, has more than 25 years of management, marketing and sales training experience. For 10 years, he served as Senior Vice President and Executive Officer responsible for marketing at First Virginia Bank, Inc., one of the nation's largest and most profitable financial institutions. He also served as President of First Virginia's in-house advertising agency. Since 1990, Mr. Watson has provided marketing and advertising support to financial institutions throughout the country. He is a recognized expert in direct response marketing and has created hundreds of successful direct mail campaigns for the financial services industry. He is the creator of the Member Benefit Statement®, the highly acclaimed and successful financial services cross-selling program.
Lewis P. Smith, Executive Vice President, lsmith@groupmarketing.com, brings an extensive 30-year background of marketing experience in financial services, publishing, housing and other industries to GMA. Mr. Smith has held marketing positions at U.S. News & World Report and the Housing Guidance Council, and was Director of Market Research at Suburban Bank (a part of Bank of America). He also served as Vice President and Director of Marketing at The Riggs National Bank of Washington, D.C., and Director of Marketing at Internet Inc., owner and operator of the MOST electronic banking network (now the STAR network).
Anne Meddis, Associate Vice President, Client Services, ameddis@groupmarketing.com, is responsible for ensuring that client projects are produced in accordance with the highest standards. She brings experience in editing, writing and managing projects in the fields of finance and journalism. She heads up a team of copywriters, graphic designers, programmers and more who work diligently to turn client marketing goals into solid results.
